The fundamental theory of Uyghur medicine includes the Seven Natures of Life (Omur Tebi'iti) in the human body. And TADU is one of them meaning the 'elements'.

It is believed that there are four elements:

• Fire: the lightest of the four elements; dry and hot

• Air: placed above Water but below Fire in relative lightness; hot and moist

• Water: believed to exist outside the domain of the Earth and interior to the sphere of Air because of its relative density; cold and wet

• Earth: the earth is tranquil; cold and dry. All other living things grow to enter it
